This week’s featured candidate is a highly educated R&D, Technical and Quality Manager who has worked in a range of industries in the US, Eire and Spain as well as the UK, and has enjoyed significant success providing materials expertise for sister manufacturing facilities in Brazil, India and China.
Immediately available for permanent or project opportunities, he is MSc and PhD. qualified (and fluent in Spanish!) and has over fifteen years’ experience in technical and quality management, product design and development and R&D roles across a range of sectors.
His experience covers responsibility for quality management and control, internal auditing and company certification for ISO 9001, in addition to environmental aspects ensuring compliance with RoSH and REACH requirements. This entails technical leadership and project management using APQP and FMEA core tools in TS19649 quality environments to introduce new products and materials into the manufacturing process.
His day to day duties have included analysis of non-conforming components to provide rapid response to customers and continuous improvement of processes, including visiting customers to solve quality issues on site. It would also involve mechanical design of products using CAD (Solidworks and AutoCAD 2D) including fabrication of prototypes to explore form, fit and function requirements, and of sourcing and characterising injection moulded parts and new polymer and epoxy materials using internal and external laboratory facilities.
Working closely with manufacturing to ensure correct transfer of new designs into production, provide product costing and BOM development, he also maintains supplier specifications for all raw materials.
