My client is one of the outstanding success stories of recent years, growing strongly thanks to a combination of competitive pricing and outstanding customer service. As part of their plans to ensure continued growth, they are now seeking to appoint an experienced, dynamic graduate or MBA to a new role specifically managing the burgeoning field engineering team. This is a full on role, as, at least initially, you will be directly responsible for a team of over 50 UK wide, home based engineers, supported by a team of work schedulers and a training manager at Head Office. In addition to ensuring that your engineers are providing the highest quality service in the most economic and efficient manner, you will be involved in the strategic direction of the business, not least in terms of planning the expansion of the team, integrating any TUPE’d staff and improving both workflows and efficiencies on the ground. You will have had recent experience of managing sizeable teams in a field based engineering environment, preferably in a business that has undergone expansion, and be comfortable handling statistical and financial data that will provide important feedback on measurable metrics and KPIs. You will also be able to demonstrate the development of strategy for your team, either in terms of territory or service realignment, or in delivering demonstrable improvements in key KPIs, and possess excellent communication skills, both on the ground, with customers, and at board level. This is a very rare opportunity for someone with a proven field service track record to have a significant influence on the future direction of this business.
