Design & Development Engineer

Wrexham

to 35,000pa

My client is an outstanding success story, long established, cash rich and debt free, with an enviable reputation for quality and service and an almost exclusively blue chip customer base. As part of their forward thinking strategy, they are now looking to strengthen their team with the recruitment of an experienced, creative mechanical design and development engineer. This is not your traditional sitting in a back office type of position; the size of the team dictates that you will be involved in many different areas of the business, but your primary points of contact will be with sales, customers and manufacturing. Degree qualified, you will have a background in mechanical engineering, with a good understanding of automotive, transport or motorsports sectors, either through previous employment or even as a hobby. Not only will you be able to turn customers ideas into reality, and be able to talk to clients to interpret their ideas, but you will also be able to design products that not only can be made, but can be made in a cost effective manner. There is a strong emphasis in the role on research and development, particularly in terms of creating the next generation of products, researching and developing solutions to todays current problems, and utilising the next generation of materials, so you must be comfortable in a laboratory environment, able to run your own tests and confidently deliver your findings. With experience of working in a manufacturing environment, rather than purely theoretical, and strong SolidWorks skills, you will also be able to interpret feedback from the manufacturing side on strengths, weaknesses and other properties. It is rare for such a broad range of skills to be required in a role, and even rarer for such a role to offer both long term stability and career development in the way that this one does.
