My client is a long established, and still successful, organisation, instantly familiar yet something of a hidden gem. In the last couple of years they have successfully diversified into other sectors, and due now to the complexity of the group, they are seeking to appoint an experienced part qualified or nearly qualified accountant to a new, high profile role working across two sites. Due to this recent diversification, they are looking for an individual with significant experience of designing and implementing data warehousing and report writing programmes, with indepth knowledge of Cognos, SQL Server and similar. Experience of managing implementation projects from cradle to grave, and of being able to interpret requests for reports into actual information provision are also pre-requisites, as is the ability to train other users on the systems. Important that this experience is, the data warehousing and systems implementation work is very much the icing around a traditional financial accounting role, albeit covering two sites; it is therefore also an excellent stepping stone in terms of career progression, offering the opportunity for man-management and technical work, in addition to a high profile project role reporting, at times, directly to the board. An unusual role potentially, but one that will reap outstanding rewards for the right candidate.
