My client is an outstanding success story, long established, cash rich and debt free, with an enviable reputation for quality and service and an almost exclusively blue chip customer base. As part of their forward thinking strategy, they are now looking to strengthen the senior management team with the appointment of a suitably qualified individual to not only manage the finance function and many of the commercial administration tasks, but also lead the IT system developments that they require. There are many traditional accounting aspects as for any SME - monthly management accounts, bank and insurance relationship management, cash control, payroll, pension administration - but many non-finance requirements as well, ensuring that the business is compliant with current legislation. Much of the information that is produced is precisely what the business needs (and needs no tweaking), but a key part of the role is to improve the interface between Sage Line 50 and the production control system, and generally to improve the system, its usage and training on it throughout the company to improve administrative productivity. It is rare for such a broad range of skills to be required in a role, and even rarer for such a role to offer both long term stability and career development in the way that this one does.
