Mechanical Engineering Manager

My client is a dynamic, expanding organisation with a strong track record of delivering success and a five year business plan that revolves around significant and sustained capital investment and the expansion of the workforce. The aim of this business plan is to double turnover, and with a truly global marketplace, this is entirely feasible. In order to achieve this aim, they are now keen to recruit an experienced, degree qualified mechanical engineer to a role responsible for ensuring the continued economic operation of the mechanical plant and machinery and the teams dedicated to it. In addition to your qualification and further training, you will be able to demonstrate an ability to take a strategic overview and experience of managing multi-disciplinary maintenance teams. It is essential that your mechanical engineering skills have been gained providing maintenance solutions for a range of equipment, preferably including materials handling, and that you have retained a degree of hands-on day to day involvement rather than being entirely office bound. In addition to experience of both reactive and planned maintenance, you must also demonstrate current knowledge of health & safety, environment, quality and training issues, and be comfortable developing a team of people ranging from apprentices to time served engineers. This is not a role where you will be expected to adhere to the status quo; this department has a huge impact on the profitability of the entire business, and you will be expected to design and implement improvements to working practices, training and staffing to ensure minimum disruption to the 24/7 working pattern. This is a highly visible, high profile mechanical maintenance role, not one for those who prefer to hide in the shadows, but the rewards and prospects offered in return are second to none.
