Category Manager

My client is the market leader in their field, offering a high quality, flexible service to an expanding variety of companies. As part of their current expansion plans, they are seeking to recruit an ambitious graduate and CIPS qualified individual into a new role of Category Manager. Unlike most other traditional senior purchasing opportunities, your role will be to develop, implement and deliver clear strategies for a portfolio of clients covering a range of products and services, with the aim of reducing total supply chain expenditure through Strategic Cost Management. Your responsibility will be to develop cross functional teams, delivering supply chain management solutions, systems and procedures for measurement of the objectives, and will include improving supplier service and delivery, cost down activities and projects, identifying key market drivers and ensuring long-term security of supply. You must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of career progression within a supply chain or procurement environment in a blue chip organisation, and have been involved in projects or activities outwith the normal remit. Needless to say, you will possess good IT, analytical and communication (both written and verbal) skills. This is far more than just your average purchasing manager role, and only candidates of the very highest quality will make the shortlist.
